The Varied Thrush was still present this morning near Sherburne NWR at 14526 281St Avenue (just off CR 1).

The Townsend's Solitaire was reported at Ann Lake/Sand Dunes on Sunday.

In addition, I have a second report of a Northern Saw-whet Owl at Ann Lake. It was initially reported in December .2 of a mile east of the parking lot. On Sunday it was seen in one of the mixed deciduous/juniper stands of trees south of the parking lot. To be honest, I have attempted to find that Saw-whet on four occasions (including once at night), without success - but two other birders have found it.

Good birding to all!

PS Hoping to sneak up to Aitkin on Friday for owls and winter finches - any recent information would be greatly appreciated!

PSS For those who have inquired, Nate's preliminary diagnosis is epilepsy, controllable by medication; some testing still remains. He's able to play basketball and bird; driving, climbing and parts of work are out for a while.
