Early this afternoon there was a nice variety of waterfowl in the extensive
flooded fields between Carver county hwys 53 and 153, north of 150th street.
This is two miles south of Hwy 212 at Cologne (then west on 150th).
I counted 415 Tundra Swans here, There were at least 20 Greater White-fronted
Geese amidst hundreds of Canada Geese.
Divers were plentiful on the east end, 70 Canvasback, 40 Redhead, plus Lesser
Scaup and a few Ring-necked Ducks. Also present were Mallards, Northern
Pintail (1), Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye.
There were also 200 Tundra Swans in the flooded corn field on the south side of
county hwy 52, west of county 51.
Gloves would have been a good idea today.
