Hey birders,
It turns out that migration is not over quite yet.
Perch Lake northeast of Mapleton is almost entirely a mudflat which makes views
a little distant at times, but the shorebirds keep coming. Yesterday I had a
Lesser Yellowlegs, a Black-bellied Plover, an American Golden-Plover, and about
150 peeps (White-rumped and Least where the two that could be identified).
I also found two Snow Geese at the Mapleton Sewage Ponds. They could be viewed
from the road on the east side with a scope.
Other highlights:
A Least Bittern was calling at the Maple River WMA southeast of Good Thunder.
Two Eurasian Collared-Doves were atop the usual church in Mapleton across from
the Casey's gas station.
