There were two Ross's Geese, one dark phase Snow Goose and several Cackling
Geese feeding with the Canada Geese behind Shopko on the south side of
Rochester today (just east of Hwy 63 & north of the Hwy 52 interchange.
>From the traffic light on Hwy 63 drive east past the north side of Shopko
and continue due east to the stop sign. In addition there were several
sparrows working the taller grasses along the side of the road that extends
east of the new Firestation. The best of the lot was a Nelson's Sparrow -
and to make it even better it was teed up for a long time and provided
excellent scope views. The station is on the north side of the road and
the sparrows were mostly on the south side just off the gravel when I was
there.
