3 scoters (Surf and Black) were present on L. Waconia as of 4 PM, as was the Pacific Loon. The scoters were diving, preening, and sunning together fairly close to the south shore, just east of the beach. Their extended loafing afforded good, long looks with the scope.
The loon was first seen in the SE corner of the lake, then appeared to circle over to the north side. I say "appeared to" because its re-location to the north, and its appearance at a spot midway, could be that of another loon, it happened so quickly. All 3 views were from a much greater distance than that of the scoters, and it spent most of its time fishing. Many thanks to John Cyrus for his diligent posting, and to Mark Larose for his suggestion as to where to access easiest looks. Multiple "lifers" in a day are a rare treat.
