While I was not confident to report 3 Pacific Loons, I am fairly sure there
were 2-3 on Lake Waconia. Although I saw the 2 from a distance, they
seemed too small to be Common Loons. Even from the distance the bills seemed
a bit too thin At one point they also both stood up in the water stretching
their wings facing me giving me good looks at their necks showing no signs of
the darker but faded ring at the base of a Common Loons neck. I say 2-3
because it's possible that the Pacific I saw near shore earlier may have
doubled back and joined the other. I had lost track of the one nearby well
before these other 2 started coming towards me. Also, I uploaded a picture of
the Scoters to MOU recently seen.
