We had a Chipping Sparrow stay at our feeders that was last seen on January 3rd a few winters ago. It didn't show itself after what we remember as being one of the coldest nights of the winter.

Subject: [mou-net] Chipping Sparrow still in backyard (Hennepin County)

We have relocated the Chipping Sparrow eating seed in our backyard this
afternoon. Not sure that it is the same one that we had in our backyard
last week, but it doesn't seem like there would be a whole lot of other
Chipping Sparrows around at this point.

At this point, it seems like it is getting extremely late in the year to see
any Chipping Sparrow in MN.

Does anybody know what the latest a Chipping Sparrow has ever been seen in
the metro area or MN in general?

*We also had a not-so-common visitor a couple of days ago with a Pileated
Woodpecker at our feeder.
