There is still a good-sized flock (~20) of Pine Siskins regularly feeding on the alder cones along Minnehaha Creek (closest street intersection 32nd Ave S and E. 46th St). They tend to be there on sunny mid-mornings, in the cluster of alders along the creek just below the tennis courts.
I haven't seen a redpoll mixed in with the flock this season, although I've been checking. Also this morning there were at least seven purple finches feeding with several pine siskins less than a block upstream (toward Lake Hiawatha). The purple finches hang out in the green ash trees and are eating the seedpods. Diana Doyle S.
