I counted 24 greater yellowlegs in a wetland area near St. Joseph on the way home last night. There were also killdeer, waterfowl and coots in this location. I saw a pair of trumpeter swans there on Sunday. It's kind of a neat little spot - one I'll certainly watch for more shorebirds as spring progresses.
Directions: From Hwy. 75 in St. Joseph, turn north on CR 133 (Coborn's grocery store) and drive about 3 miles. The wetland area is on the west side of the road.
