Today on the trail to the Snake Creek River entry point of the BWCA (where
you would launch to get to Bald Eagle Lake), I heard a Boreal Chickadee
about 50-60 rods in. Then, in the spruce bog along the Snake Creek River, I
heard an additional 3 Boreal Chickadees. I heard a likely Three-toed
Woodpecker there as well, saw a fair number of migrant warblers and watched
a Sharp-shinned Hawk buzz across the river in pursuit.

Also notable were shorebirds attracted to the dropping water levels. We
flushed a Solitary Sandpiper several times along the bank of the river.
Then, on the south end of Bald Eagle Lake, a flock of 7 Pectoral Sandpipers
and a flying/calling Greater Yellowlegs were present. Overall, we had a fun
mix of boreal species and shorebirds for the BWCA today.
