After working at Hawk Ridge today, I took a walk down through Canal Park to enjoy some of the local gulls and see what other birds were around. A very distant jaeger was observed pursuing several gulls. I only had my binoculars and camera, and wasn't able to get any identifiable shots of this distant bird. It still was a treat to see! While at Canal Park, I caught the tail-end of the Common Nighthawk flight for the evening, and counted 77 nighthawks in two minutes.
Another fun treat from today was count-interpreting the many Sharp-shinned Hawks flying past Hawk Ridge (and many other birds of course). Last I heard... the counters had tallied up just short of a thousand Sharp-shinned Hawks today! Kudos for the great counting that they do :-) Good birding, Erik Bruhnke Duluth, MN -- *NATURALLY AVIAN* - Bird photography and birding tours www.pbase.com/birdfedr www.naturallyavian.blogspot.com [email protected] ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
