Cindy: Four or five years, maybe more, while shopping in a Texas based outdoor supply store called Academy Sports + Outdoors I found a Smith and Wesson brand flashlight that works real well. It is 6.5 inches long, has ten white LEDs and three red LEDs, takes three AAA batteries, and made from a sturdy aluminum billet. It came with cloth holster. It cost something like $25 or $26. In addition to general usage, that flashlight has been very useful at astronomy events that take place at the places I do volunteer work at, Mitchell Lake Audubon Center and at Government Canyon State Natural area. Unfortunately Academy no longer carries that specific model. Furthermore I could not find Smith and Wesson brand flashlights at the Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Duluth Trading Company, REI,or Forestry Suppliers web sites. Maybe Academy http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategories_10151_10051 has an agreement with Smith and Wesson to have flashlights manufactured under the Smith and Wesson brand name. On the other hand maybe, hopefully, there are local or regional outdoor supply stores in Minnesota that carry S&W brand flashlights.
