There is an entertaining story about finding the bird and the
subsequent chase on eBird from Jethro Runco who found the bird and
Justyn Stahl, who is coordinating field work on San Clemente
Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus mearnsi) for the Institute for
Wildlife Studies.

(2007), there is one previous accepted record in California, 01 November
1989 at SE Farallon Is. (Northern California) That California record at the
time was the only North American record outside of Western Alaska,
according to the book. Pretty exciting stuff - great bird. There is a photo
of the bird on the WFO website: http://www.westernfieldornithologists.org/
