We looked for the long-tailed duck this morning with no luck. However, there was a single pelican there! It must be ill or hurt, I think. It was sitting very close to shore and cannot be seen from the parking lot. I walked up to the edge of the river and looked down toward the bridge to get a look at it. It was sitting very still, just moved its head from side to side a bit. Has anyone else seen it there earlier?
On another note, we have observed a shrike several times sitting atop one of the dead trees on the north side of the street in Lady Slipper Park, a very small Roseville park on S.
