This Saturday, birders have permission to enter the Black Dog Power Plant at
10: 00 AM and 3:30 PM. Sean Peterson will be your guide. Please meet at
the main entrance along the river. As there is still no access from I-35W,
you will have to approach this area from the east (Hwy 77 side). Birders
who gather prior to these two times will be able to enter the facility as a
group, and then proceed to the causeway. If you are late and the group has
already entered, then you won't have access.

You can either walk in through the gate or drive in and park on the right in
the visitors' lot. At least one car has to drive in. To exit the plant
simply drive up to the gate and it will open automatically. Walking up to
the gate won't work, however, so if you do walk in, be sure to leave when a
vehicle is also leaving the grounds.

We will also arrange for occasional access subsequent to the Bloomington CBC
day - probably just at 3:30 PM. Stay tuned for details!

IMPORTANT: Please stay away from all trains. Do not cross between the cars
of any train, and do not attempt to go under any train cars. This is for
your safety and to preserve the good will that we have built with the Xcel
Energy staff over the last few years.

Thanks, and should you choose to show up, good luck!

Paul
