Just finished three straight days of doing Christmas counts Lac Qui Parle I believe we set a record number of spcies with 47. Highlights were four species of Geese(Whitefronted 4,Snow 12, Cackling 24,Canada 50,000+),Pelican 4, seven species of ducks including Black Duck, Ring-necked Duck,Ruddy Duck, Pintail, Mallard, Golden-eye, Common Merganser. Also had Saw-whet Owl, Golden Eagle, Sharp-shined Hawk, Golden-crowned Kinglet , Swamp Sparrow and Common Redpoll. Cottonwood We had 33 species with few highlights. 50+ Eurasian Collard Doves, Long Eared owl. Harrris and Song Sparrows. Worked on but do not compile the Marshall count. My highlight was a Snowy Owl south of Marshall at the southeast corner of co 5 and 190th street and three Belted Kingfishers.
