hi val-thanks for the detailed info. If I were to take your suggested route into the park and to the swans, once I get there am I in good position for good photos of them (I do have a 400mm telephoto lens) or are they quite far away?

are they quite docile or is there quite a bit of landing and take-off activity?

is the count still around 40?

thanks for weighing in ...

you can back channel your response if you feel that's appropriate

Hello, Jim:
You may already have heard from folks about the swans,
but when I've seen them they've tended to be at the
end of the channel that flows south from Hwy. 96. They
prefer to rest on the ice but be near some open water.
Now, the entrance into this part of the park, off Rice
St. from Hwy. 96, is blocked for the winter. Haven't
been there in about 5 weeks, the county may have
opened it back up, but I think they do this later in the spring.
So they way my friends and I reach Sucker is from County
Road E, where there's a parking lot just east of Rice, then
walk north into the park, it's less than a mile to the swans.
Hope this helps,
Val Cunningham

hi to the group-saw a post here about a month ago that a flock of about 40 swans had taken up residency at sucker lake. it's such a nice day today I was thinking of driving over there and trying to grab some photos. does anyone know if they are still there? if so, is it easy to spot them ... what side of the lake do they tend to inhabit (I haven't been to sucker lake)??
thanks in advance for any info.
