Yesterday I was guiding two groups of birders around Sax-Zim Bog, and we had a very fun time exploring the roads and mixed boggy habitat found there. Three of the birders came from England, and they were thrilled to see such a wide array of colorful warblers. Our day's total list of birds came to 75 species, and we only covered half of the bog! A special treat on the side was watching a porcupine eat bark and leaves while clinging to a speckled alder. We observed Canada Warbler, Connecticut Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Sedge Wren, and many others (just to name a few). The eBird list from yesterday's visit to Sax-Zim is below.
