I've birded the Carleton Lower Arb (Rice & Dakota) every day this week,
early mornings. Waves of sparrows are coming through right now, mostly
Lincoln's and White-throated, but Song, Field, and others as well. Also,
several Red-breasted Nuthatches, and an assortment of warblers, though not
in large numbers -- Northern Parula, Nashville, Connecticut, Mourning,
Black-and-white, Common Yellowthroat, and American Redstart. Every morning
features one or two waves of Cedar Waxwings too, and at least two or three
Bald Eagles cruising up and down the Cannon River. Great Blue Herons and
Green Herons wade or perch along the banks. Not to mention all the
woodpeckers, vireos, catbirds, cardinals, robins, Blue Jays, Eastern
Phoebes, Mallards, the hundreds of chickadees, etc. It's great to live so
close to such a birdy spot!
