This morning I took a walk from the parking area along the creek that flows
out of the east side of the Kalmar reservoir. One Lincoln sparrow a few
Song Sparrows, 20-30 swamp sparrows. A Merlin flew by and took a pass at a
flock of Goldfinches. Then up pops a single Nelson's Sparrow offering me
excellent views. Several yards from there I found 2 LeConte's Sparrows
perched up on the weeds looking about. A short but productive walk in the
frosty grasses.
