About 5:30 p.m. several of us watched 3 Nelson's Sparrows dart in and out of the cattails on the shallow pond on the north side of the trail just west of the parking lot and just before the turnoff to the observation deck. In addition, there was a very visible Sora, a Blue-Headed Warbler and a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet in the same area.
