Out guiding a birder from Georgia yesterday and today. Sax-Zim Bog 12/14/12 - Great Gray Owl along the McDavitt Rd seen between north and south logging roads. - Boreal Chickadees at the Admiral Rd Feeders - Hoary Redpolls (2) at the Admiral Rd Feeders - Sharp-tailed Grouse seen flying over Owl Avenue about .3 miles south of CR52 Sucker River along Scenic 61 -200 White-winged Crossbills feeding on spruce trees along 61 across from Sucker River parking lot. Canal Park - Duluth - Thayer Gulls (3 adult and 1 2nd cycle) - Iceland Gull (adult Kumlien's) - Glaucous Gull (one 2nd cycle and one first cycle) - Ring-billed Gull (2 winter adults and one 2nd cycle and one first cycle) - Great Black-backed Gull (adult, third cycle, 2nd cycle, 2 first cycles) Jeff Newman called me yesterday to report a Red-necked Grebe at the mouth of the Lester River.
