This afternoon I found a Red-necked Grebe in the Knife River Harbor (just a little south of Two Harbors). It was seen with some Common Goldeneyes and Bufflehead. On the drive home to Duluth I had several Herring Gulls fly overhead, and my first-of-the-winter Glaucous Gull, which was a juvenile.
Here is a photo of the Red-necked Grebe. http://www.pbase.com/image/147859519 Hopefully the weather will allow for a productive and well-rounded Christmas Bird Count!
