Two new birds for the year yesterday (Wednesday):
Song Sparrow under the feeder. I have yet to hear its song.
Red-winged Blackbird on territory in Eagan. I may have seen it the day
before, but did it did not sing and I did not grab my binocs.

Canada Geese are beginning to carve up Quigley Lake. Yesterday there were
one and a half pairs. Today there more, but they are not sticking around
as there is very little open water. I wonder about the single goose. It
is early on a prime spot and I suspect that its mate may not be returning.
