In my infinite wisdom I checked radar early this morning and didn't think it
looked so bad. At the time it wasn't, but as soon as I got to Rapids Lake the
radar really filled in. I waited the first round of storms out and birded for
an hour in light showers until storms rolled on in again. I wasn't really
willing to stray too far from my car in those conditions(several cloud to
ground lightning strikes within a mile or two of the visitor center) and was
only able to pick up 9 warbler species. The most surprising species was a
flock of around 25 Pine Siskin at the visitor center feeders.

As the rain was wrapping up I went out to Carver Park Reserve later in the
morning and birded for 4 hours into the mid-afternoon hour. Activity was high
during the entire 4 hour stretch despite the time of day likely due to the
morning rain. Select counts of 80 species for Carver Park are below.
