I made an inquiry at Agassiz NWR. The gate key program is back, but there are serious limitations. One must get the key during business hours - 7:30am to 4pm Monday thru Friday - no federal holidays of course. I know from experience that the office is often locked early on Friday. The key must be returned the same day during business hours. I brought up the fact that that will eliminate access for many , if not most, of the usual visitors, but the concern is how to keep track of the keys, and to treat everyone equally. It seems that means little or no access for all -"equally"! Thief River Falls wastewater treatment ponds: I also asked about the reinforced fence at the main gate , and was told that they were written up by MPCA as they didn't have it secured properly. The policy here in TRF has not changed , however. I was told that whoever wants to get in will surely be able to, and a key can be obtained during business hours.
