Regarding my visit to see the Lewis's Woodpecker today, I sat for a little more than an hour at the site. Within 5-10 minutes of my arrival, it came to the Anderson's feeder. It only came to the feeder 3 times while I was there. It spent the majority of the time in the tree on the northeast corner of their lot by a shed (along the county road 18), and at one point I saw it still drop into the ditch (going after bugs?). It flew over to the house across the road in Lake of the Woods County at least twice and preened in a tree along their driveway a bit. At one point it flew to a utility pole way out by the railroad tracks behind the Anderson's and perched at the top. I stayed in the car and just watched from there so as not to disturb it. I saw no other woodpeckers while I was there, just a few Blue Jays, Chickadees and House Sparrows.
