A big overdue thank-you goes out to many of you who were birding in Sax-Zim Bog this past Saturday. Other keen eyes than our own, spotted both the Great-Gray Owl and the Snowy Owl we got to enjoy. We had super close-up looks at the Great Gray due to Mike Hendrickson's generosity with his scope. Most of all, we were spared from having to call AAA when I turned a corner too sharply and got one side of the car stuck in a ditch; several of you, including Erik Bruhnke and Frank Nicoletti (I think) came to the rescue with muscle-power, so we lost little birding time. That enabled us to return to the Admiral Road Feeders later and see the two Boreal Chickadees. Thanks, too, to those who are working on/for the Friends of the Bog Welcome Center. The volunteer who was staffing it was most gracious, sharing his wife's homemade cookies. We also owe a debt of gratitude to all the residents maintaining feeders well ahead of the Festival, and putting up with our traffic and gawking. Thank you, all for sharing the birds! Linda Whyte
