The Northern Hawk Owl that was being seen off and on has not been seen (by
me anyway) recently. In its place today on almost the same exact wire that
the Hawk Owl used to hang out was an American Kestrel. To the north of that
location (220th and Tagus Avenue) one could take almost any of the roads
going east from Tagus and find several Horned Larks. Snow Buntings have
been seen on 247th (Common Street from Tagus) on a few occasions.

Southwest of Hutchinson near Ras-Lynn State Wildlife Management Area, there
are many Ringed-necked Pheasants being seen as well as a Rough-legged Hawk.
The RLH has been flying in a field between the streets of 150th and 140th
(these streets run east-west but border on the north and south
respectively) and Walden and York (which run north and south but border on
the west and east respectively). The Rough-legged Hawk has been seen
consistently for about 3 weeks.
