Today at TNC Schaefer's Prairie in McLeod Cty. (Nature Ave., one mile south of MN Hwy. 212)----very quiet, few birds in general, but a few scattered Sparrow residents and migrants, including one very secretive Le Conte's Sp. hanging out with an equally skittish Lincoln's, a Field Sparrow, Swamp, Savannah, and Song, a House Wren, and a couple Orange-crowned Warblers. This took work, however, tromping thru elbow-to-shoulder high grasses and reeds (very dry right now but boots help), although several deer trails (?) criss-cross the prairie. (The Le Conte's was almost dead center of the grassy prairie, flushed from some thicker short shrubs).
