Snowy owl at 1:00 p.m. along Stearns CR 9 half way between Avon and Richmond - west side of the road, sitting on the ground - adult male - very white. When I stopped to look and try for a photo, he flew off to the northwest and kept going until he was out of sight. I didn't have time to spend looking for him.
Rough-legged Hawk flying over the school on the north side of Avon at 2:00 p.m. today - jct of Stearns CRs 9 and 155. Another rough-legged hawk near the intersection of Stearns CRs 3 and 4, just west of St. Wendel. Note: For those of you who are familiar with this area, the giant bald eagle nest that has been in the wood lot at the farmstead just east of St. Wendel is gone - disappeared over the winter. I'll watch to see where they might be rebuilding. A dozen horned larks in 4-5 different locations along Stearns CR 4 between Avon and St. Cloud. Rough-legged hawk on the north side of the St. Cloud Airport, in Benton County this afternoon also.
