A this morning about 10:30am Ruth Hiland, Phyllis Bofferding & I (plus two others) saw a juvenile least bittern at Wood lake Nature Center in Richfield, Hennepin Co. It was seen well from the boardwalk on the east side, looking toward the southwest cattails. A calling sora attracted our attention, which turned out to be right along side the bittern. It stayed perfectly still for a few minutes, then withdrew into the cattails, same location. Leslie Marcus
