The female-plumaged HARLEQUIN DUCK at Agate Bay in Two Harbors was still present as of the 24th. LONG-TAILED DUCKS were last reported at Agate Bay in Two Harbors on the 19th. Frank Nicoletti saw three BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS and two SPRUCE GROUSE on the 26th along Lake County Road 2 north of the Sand River. The flock of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS along Scenic Highway 61 on the east side of the McQuade Road public access was last reported on the 23rd, but John Richardson reported a large flock west of here on the 26th along Greenwood Lane. Clinton Nienhaus saw a flock of BOHEMIAN WAXWING S and CEDAR WAXWINGS on the 23rd along the Jean-Duluth Road south of Riley Road and Don Kienholz saw a BOHEMIAN WAXWING on the 24th on the 2700 block of East 8th Street. John Richardson saw a GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL, GLAUCOUS GULL, and THAYER'S GULLS on the 22nd near 27th Avenue West in the Duluth Harbor. A juvenile gray morph and a gray adult male GYRFALCON have both been reported around the grain elevators in the Duluth Port Terminal and near the Peavey elevator and Connors Point off US Highway 53 in Superior. Uwe Kausch reported a GYRFALCON on the 21st flying southwest over his property on the Wildwood Road in Duluth Township. Tom Hollenhorst saw an unidentified SWAN on the 19th near Brighton Beach, which was most likely an early migrating Trumpeter Swan. Julie Grahn saw a TRUMPETER SWAN on the 25th on Silver Lake in Virginia. The Golden-crowned Sparrow at 44th Avenue East and Regent Street in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth has not been reported since the 15th but is probably still present. Birders are welcome to look for the bird but the homeowner asks observers to stay on the sidewalk and not venture into his yard.
