Birding conditions were excellent for Calhoun, Harriet, and Isles, with slight overcast skies and calm water. I circumnavigated all three lakes and found zero waterfowl on the water. That's ZERO. A few shore-bound Canada geese and mallards and seven ring- billed gulls in the middle of Calhoun (Are they waterfowl?). Even the southwest pocket on Harriet was empty...I think the first time ever for me with open water. Desperately seeking ducks, I ventured to Lakewood Cemetery and struck it rich with one male bufflehead and two birds in the air. I assume females. Something has to set down on these lakes tonight. ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
