Canada Geese and Hooded Mergansers were mating today. Males of both species were at each other's throats on Lake Marge at Prairie Marsh Farm and at Sweetwater WMA. First Harris's Sparrows in the yard this morning. Spotted 3 Merlins between Madison and Salt Lake this afternoon. First Ruddy Ducks on Salt Lake. Noticing lots of bright green algae blooms in flooded ditches. Chorus and Leopard Frogs are calling at Prairie Marsh Farm.
