Here is a fb link to a post on the Smew. (Those who first heard about it chose to post what they heard on fb rather than the listserve.) https://m.facebook.com/groups/281101841961700?view=permalink&id=1488713711200501 I believe nothing ever appeared on the listserve because nobody who looked for it ever found anything, so there was nothing to report other than third or even fourth-hand rumors. Clarification please. I just looked at the rare bird alert Friday weekly report from the American Birding Association and it lists a sighting of a Smew in Duluth. I agree with Kathy who inquired about this earlier. Where are the reports on this bird? Who found it and did anyone else see it? I found no reports at all on eBird and saw nothing on the Minnesota Facebook group. Is this some sort of underground sighting meant to be kept on the down low?
