Bass Ponds

Field Trip Report


Had a very enjoyable walk this morning at the Bass Ponds.  There were Sandhill 
Cranes calling and lots of migrants on the move.  Mixed in with a large raft of 
American Coots were some Gadwall, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail and Wood 
Ducks.  There were also lots of Sparrows and a few Warblers and Ruby-crowned 
Kinglets observed in mixed flocks.


Here are a few of the species observed by the group today;

Trumpeter Swan

Wood Duck

Gadwall

American Wigeon

Northern Pintail

Green-winged Teal

Pied-bill Grebe

Great Blue Heron

Great Egret

Wilson's Snipe

Belted Kingfisher

Marsh Wren

Orange-crowned Warbler

Pam Warbler

Yellow-rumped Warbler

Dark-eyed Junco

White-crowned Sparrow

Harris's Sparrow

White-throated Sparrow -  mainly heard

Lincoln's Sparrow

Swamp Sparrow
