Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Rapids Lake Education & Visitor Center
Field Trip Report

Our morning walk turned out to be very enjoyable. The rain cleared out just as
the walk began and there were lots of migrants. The highlight of the walk was
the LeConte's Sparrow, observed along the main path just South of the Visitor
Center. Additionally, there were lots of Orange-crowned Warblers,
White-throated Sparrows and Kinglets.

Here are a few of the species observed by the group today;

Great Blue Heron
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Cooper's Hawk
Spotted Sandpiper
Belted Kingfisher
House Wren
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Orange-crowned Warbler
LeConte's Sparrow
Field Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
Lincoln's Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow
Common Grackle - Fly over
