The Bemidji Christmas Bird Count will be on Saturday, December 16, 2017, with initial meeting at the Minnesota Nice Cafe in downtown Bemidji by the post office at 7:15 to 8:00 a.m. to organize the count and send out teams. While the lakes and most of the rivers have frozen up this week, there are still some lingering waterfowl in the area on river rapids and outlets to the bigger lakes; and yesterday I had second-hand reports of Snowy Owls near Bemidji in Beltrami County, near Upper Rice Lake in Clearwater County and another in southern Hubbard County near Akeley. But the owls seem to be moving around a good deal and not staying in favorable locations, at least favorable to birders. Also, the Itasca State Park CBC will take place on Monday, December 18, 2017, meeting at the Brower Visitor Center near the east entrance to the park at 7:30 to 8 a.m. Any help with these counts is always appreciated. ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
