The Frontenac Warbler Walk held yesterday May 12th was a smashing success as 12 birders spent between 4 hours and 6 hours at the main park and Sandy Point. We counted 66 species in the morning session. Highlights include a pair of Red-headed Woodpeckers, Henslow's Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, Northern Parula, Philadelphia Vireo, Black-throated Green Warblers, Chestnut-sided Warblers, and a Blackpoll Warbler.
Many also added on time at Sandy Point (45 species) where a bug bloom and fallout in the receding river waters provided point blank views of 2 Prothonotary Warblers and a Blackburnian Warbler. The walk also featured Golden-winged Warbler and Wilson's Warbler, with well over 250 birds covering a wet area that we were able to watch for almost 2 hours. ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
