Late yesterday afternoon on our family birding day we found a Ferruginous Hawk
on Artichoke
Lake WPA. The area had been freshly burned (likely that morning as some areas
were still
smoldering). The bird was perched on the ground. It was very light on the
underside with
some dark brown spots on the breast. The legs were clearly feathered all the
way down to the
foot. In flight the bird appeared uniformly dark on the back and seemed long
bodied with long
wings in relation to body size. Some marginal photos on eBird. Exact location
was:
45.340848,-96.104929
