Tonight at sunset observed about 30 silent nighthawks in Grant County on Hwy 78
on south end of Pelican Lake nest the public boat ramp. It looked like there
was a fresh hatch of flying insects they were feeding on.

Last night we witnessed at least 100 nighthawks whirling high overhead at
about 8:00pm. The behavior resembled a very large kettle of hawks, but they
were clearly nighthawks. Location was Eastern Pine County over the east
fork of Crooked Creek, intersection of Barnes Spring Road and CR 138.
