Yesterday afternoon around 4:30 Mary Lou and I found a pair of Blue Grosbeaks
at the intersection of US 212 and 151st Ave. I was able to view the male Blue
Grosbeak three times while it was perched on electrical wires on 151st and on
212 but was unable to get a photo and it did not reply to a recorded call.
While I was chasing it three poles to the south Mary Lou while siting in the
truck had the female land on a wire directly over 212.
The day before Jason Frank and I found a flock of about 150 shorebirds two
miles south at the corner of 151st Ave and 170th St. There is a flooded field
at the north west corner. We found at least 120 Pectoral Sandpipers, 14
Semipalmated Sandpipers and 10 Lesser Yellowlegs. Also many Killdeer and one
Virginia Rail.
