eBird does use the GPS on the phone to find your location and track your distance while birding. If you need to navigate roads, Google Maps is reliable. When hiking, I like GPS Logger II which can create detailed records of your walk (or drive.) The Minnesota State Parks recommend Avenza Maps as they have uploaded their park maps to it.
These are all free. No harm in trying a bunch. -----Original Message----- From: Minnesota Birds <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Frank Berdan Sent: Monday, November 11, 2019 8:26 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [mou-net] GPS app All, A new cell phone offers a good excuse to update my GPS capability. Any suggestions about which app is best for birders?
