I am in NE Minneapolis, 2 blocks off of Central Ave, and the first RB Nuthatches appeared here on October 1st - a pair then hung around for a few days in the neighbor’s dead Elm tree (a very popular tree for the neighborhood clingers, to my delight).
I hadn’t seen any at my house since then, but just this past Tuesday, I saw one in my backyard briefly, climbing above the birdbath. I’ve lived anywhere from 3-5 hours north of the cities most of my life and observed them pretty regularly, so it’s very fun to learn more about their irruption cycles as my local knowledge grows. (And appreciate the little guys and their sweet chit chat even more when I see them here!)
