Hi all,

I have a general question regarding Oz and Mozart from the perspective of a newcomer. I have got on it for a while and eagerly look forward to spending even more time on it in order to make the most out of it on my personal researches.

However, apparently with the leaving of Christain, and the fact as indicated on his website that Gert, the father of this language (hopefully I get it right), is doing his research on another language (i.e. Alice), is it fair to say that the design/development of Oz and Mozart is gradually declining and will perhaps come to a stop a some point in time?

I found Oz and Mozart very nice and attractive to work with. However, I am concerned that I might be spending time on what people are no longer interested to pursue any further.

Could anyone who have some insights shed some light on this for me please?

Thanks,
Ed

As of now, I decline from serving on Mozart's board.

Anyhow, Oz and Mozart have been a thrilling ride while they lasted! I ever
more so grew disappointed with the lack of actual backing by people who got
quite some leverage on Oz's and Mozart's popularity. Unfortunately, opening
up to the community has been equally unsuccesful (so far, that is).

Before I do disappear from these lists, I'd like to rectify a misconception
about Oz and Mozart and research in programming systems in general: I do
consider Oz and Mozart a tremendous success, not because there are lots of
people who use the language and system. I rather consider it a success as
the research behind both has managed to establish important ideas in the
scientific community, very likely to outlive the actual language and system!

Still, after more than a decade of work on Oz and Mozart I am still amazed
what all of us (most definitely including the users) did achieve! And yes, I
am very proud to have been part of this.

And very much yes, on to the next system!

All the best
Christian
