the following links:
A Recipe for Configuring and Operating LDAP Directories
by Michael R Gettes of Georgetown University
http://www.georgetown.edu/giia/internet2/ldap-recipe/
Gettes introduces the problem and even notes a specific objectClass
called eduPerson
the other link that I would recommend is
An LDAP Roadmap & FAQ
by Jeff Hodges (formerly of Stanford University)
http://www.kingsmountain.com/ldapRoadmap.shtml
note that Jeff has continued to maintain his pages at Stanford and there
is a very good presenation about selecting a DIT/schema by one of the
people that was working on the rollout with him there at Stanford.
06/12/98 : Directory Services: DIT Design
http://www.stanford.edu/~hodges/talks/EMA98-DirectoryServicesRollout/RommelEMA/index.htm
These should be a pretty good starting point. Hope that they help.
Best of luck,
