This really sounds promising. I vote for Zope, because although PHP is
beautiful, I haven't found any ready-to-go framework using PHP that
solves so many of the same problems we have - and I have looked. I
believe the Zope people have understood and solved the problems we have
with our site. And here we're getting an offer from help by the makers
of Zope, and they love Mozilla, and all of the synchronicity with
Komodo/Zope-Mozilla. Hmmmmm .... tough choice :]
Just to be level-headed, the one thing I can think of against Zope
is ... do we have anyone currently involved in Mozilla that has ever
played with Zope? I think with DC involved it would still be important
to have another 2 contributors that have. The rest of us could learn it.
So, I have some questions:
- What kinds of files sit in the main/sub directories of a typical Zope
server?
- How many people need to be involved in getting an initial design
going?
- Does a face-to-face meeting appeal to anyone?
- Has Zope solved the problem of having documents for web & for
publishing to print?
- How much time will it take to get something basic going that we can
take over and run with?
- What do the Zope people imagine our website could be like?
- When can we get started?
