Things we could be doing while we wait for Paul to give us accounts on
moz.zope.org:
1) We need a storage hierarchy to stick stuff in the Zope tree. Before we
all rush off and define one, possibly based on earlier ones we may or may
not have produced, may I suggest something?
We should find someone who knows about content management - perhaps one of
Paul's friends at Digital Creations - who knows _nothing_ about the
Mozilla project. We should get them to spend an hour or two browsing
www.mozilla.org. They would almost certainly come up with some really good
ideas about content organisation which we wouldn't, because we're too
close to the whole thing.
2) We do need a new look and feel for the front page. Frankly, this
requires a lot of work and I personally don't have the bandwidth to do a
mock-up - but I know others do. The problem is partly that it's hard to do
one without some idea of the way we are organising the place...
Perhaps it would be sensible to design it by email? This way, we can use
generalities without getting bogged down with the aesthetic or
organisational implementation of one person's mock-up. I mean, a process
which results in something like:
"A horizontal top-bar with entries X, Y, Z... - quite thin, to avoid
taking up much space. Also, a search box for the website.
A vertical sidebar on the right hand side at the top two levels of the
site with between five and seven appropriate links in it.
The rest is the content area."
The above is totally made up, and not even a starting point - it's just to
give you an idea of what I'm on about. Note that it says nothing about a)
aesthetics and b) specifics of what the links are.
