Point taken. I bet we can limit the width of the body text via CSS. But 
it should only be limited in the 3 pane message pane, not the standalone 
msg window. (Because you can limit the width manually in the latter (by 
resizing the window), but not really in the former (because it applies 
to the thread-pane as well, as you pointed out).) Can you file a bug 
(and cc me)?

You can turn it off for incoming mail, too, now.

IMO: If they mess it up, they have to fix it. This will only get worse 
and worse (because losy mailers will rule, and good mailers have to 
cope, and things get ambiguous and ugly), if no peer pressure exists.
